Beyonce is busy recording her sixth studio album, and she’s apparently switching up her sound this time around.

Sources tell The Sun, the Grammy-winning entertainer has put plans to record a joint album with her hubby Jay Z on hold, and instead is focusing on a solo album that will feature a “distinctly more urban sound.” Whatever the hell that means.

”[Beyonce] worked on [her new album] with the likes of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Plans for an album with Jay Z are now on the back burner,” shared one source.

Good Day LA: ‘Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’ To Perform In ‘Art Of Rap Music Festival’

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – just one of the many rap performers appearing at this weekend’s ‘Art Of Rap Music Festival’ in Irvine. In 1997, the group won a Grammy for the hit ‘Tha Crossroads’.

Fun facts about Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (Source: Lymelight Media)

Graced with a quick and sometimes sung delivery, along with a unique sense of melody, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony burst out of Cleveland, Ohio in the mid-’90s with a pair of massive hits (“Thuggish Ruggish Bone” and “Tha Crossroads”) along with a great first album, as well as a successful follow-up, and then quickly unraveled. Mainstream interest dropped off toward the tail end of the ’90s, but the group, which underwent a series of lineup changes, continued to release new material via mixtapes and albums throughout the 2000s.

N.W.A’s Eazy-E signed the group — initially comprised of Krayzie Bone, Wish Bone, Flesh-N-Bone, Layzie Bone, and Bizzy Bone — to Ruthless Records. The debut release from Bone was an EP, Creepin on ah Come Up (1994). The EP boasted “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” a conventional G-funk song with an unconventional array of Bone Thug rappers that became an overnight summer anthem, especially throughout the Midwest. The single crossed into the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 22.

Amid the fervor, the group immediately reentered the studio and emerged with a remarkable album, E 1999 Eternal (1995). The album topped the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts and spawned a pair of popular singles, “1st of the Month” and “Tha Crossroads,” the latter a dedication to the deceased Eazy-E and a Grammy Award recipient. As was in vogue at the time, the group members subsequently pursued respective solo careers and also a Mo Thugs Family spinoff group; none of these ventures rivaled the proper Bone projects.

At this point, the onetime cohesive group, which specialized in interwoven, harmonious singing as well as rapping, became conflicted and the group members failed to collaborate well. However, their second album, Art of War (1997) — an ambitious double-disc package — was very successful. Not only did it top the same Billboard charts as E 1999 Eternal, but lead single “Look into My Eyes” went Top Five on the Hot 100. Within a year of release, it was certified quadruple platinum for over four million units sold in the U.S.

A second round of solo albums sold poorly, and Bone quickly slid off the mainstream radar. Occasional reunions, such as 2000’s BTNHResurrection and 2002’s Thug World Order, produced some moments of glory, but these were few and far between. Thug Stories, released in 2006 on Koch, placed the group — at the time, a trio minus Bizzy — in the Top 30 of the Billboard 200. Bone then signed to Swizz Beatz’s Interscope-affiliated Full Surface boutique label, where they issued 2007’s Strength & Loyalty. A major-label budget allowed for guest spots from the Game, Mariah Carey, Akon, Bow Wow, and Twista, and the set eventually sold over 500,000 copies, earning gold certification. Bizzy returned for 2010’s Uni5: The World’s Enemy. The album debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200. A handful of dates excepted, Bizzy was absent from the album’s promotional tour. He returned for the 2013 release Art of War: WWIII, but this time Krayzie and Wish Bone were out of the group, with both working on solo careers.

The Art Of Rap will feature two stages and over 25 artists per date featuring a who’s who of the history of rap & hip-hop. The events will be a full festival experience featuring break-dancers, live graffiti artists, vendors, an interactive festival area and so much more.

The ‘Art Of Rap Music Festival’ taking place Saturday, July 18th at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine.

MTV.com: Layzie Bone Proves He’s Not Lazy By Saving A Man’s Life In Wyoming

Layzie Bone doesn’t just rap fast, as a member of the tongue-twisting group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony — he also acts fast when he sees someone in need.

He was compelled to do just that recently while in Wyoming on a tour stop, while traveling from Casper to Riverton, when he saw a man driving out-of-control.

“He started swerving,” Layzie explained to Wyoming’s K2TV. “We like, Oh, my god, this guy’s gonna kill himself. He hit the dirt and came back, and when the concrete met his tires, he started spinning instantly.”

The rapper approached the car to try to help.

“He didn’t know who anybody was, so I said, ’Do you know Bone Thugs-N-Harmony?’ And he kinda woke up,” he said. “He was like, ’Yeah.’”

It turned out the 24-year-old driver was a diabetic whose blood sugar had gotten too low, resulting in a state of shock. Layzie lent an assist by offering fruit and chocolate to the man, which could help to raise his blood sugar.

“When I see negative things, especially things that happen as a blessing, that could have been the worst, I make it into music,” Layzie said.

“I’m not doing this interview to be no type of hero, like they put it. I’m not that person. I genuinely care about people.”

NewsChannel5 Cleveland: Bone Thugs-n-Harmony visit NewsChannel5 station, give nicknames to Lee Jordan and Tera Blake

CLEVELAND – Today, Layzie Bone and Wish Bone of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony visited our NewsChannel5 station and discussed their next album, sports, and had a few laughs with Anchor Lee Jordan.

Layzie and Wish said their next album, which will be titled “E. 1999 Legends,” will be the group’s final album and they plan to go out with a bang.

Bone Thugs will only make one copy of their last album. They will then auction the album off to the highest bidder. Whoever wins will be able to make as many copies of the album as they want for distribution.

Layzie and Wish also shared information about the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Cares Foundation — a way for the group to give back to Cleveland. Bone Thugs hopes to partner with Cleveland organizations that have a desire to bring the love back to our city.

We couldn’t let Layzie and Wish go before asking their opinions about Cleveland sports. Both were excited about the Cleveland Browns winning the final preseason game last night and are very happy to know LeBron James is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Before the guys left, Layzie and Wish took a few pictures with our LeBron banner and Charles Ramsey (who randomly stopped by the station today to see his pal John Kosich). They also decided to give Lee Jordan a nickname: Pretty Bone. They gave Meteorologist Tera Blake the nickname “Rain Bone,” too. Do you like these nicknames? If so, send Lee Jordan a tweet with the hashtag #PrettyBone. Send Tera Blake a tweet with the hashtag #RainBone.

Cleveland Plain Dealer: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony receive $1 million bid for new album

15550581-mmmain

CLEVELAND, Ohio –Over the past few years, there have been several reports that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony was all but done making new music and touring with its original members. However, recent news suggests otherwise.

Last month, the members of Bone Thugs announced plans for a new album that will feature all five members (a rarity these days). There’s just one catch: There will only be one copy of the album made, which will go to the highest bidder.

The idea is very similar to one the Wu-Tang Clan put forth earlier this year. Wu-Tang leader Rza said the idea of a secret, one-copy album being put up for auction was inspired by Jay Z’s last album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” essentially being funded by Samsung.

What album would you pay $1 million for (assuming you had the money)? Tell us in the comments.

On Monday, Bone Thugs member Krayzie Bone told website HipHopDX.com that the group’s one-copy album, “E. 1999/Legends,” has already received a bid of $1 million.

The announcement is part of a revival for Krayzie Bone and company. Bone Thugs has also announced plans for a world tour that will kick off in December. The group has yet to announce the tour’s itinerary, but does have a few one-off shows scheduled through September.

Meanwhile, Krayzie Bone released the first album of his “Chasing The Devil” trilogy on July 22. Fellow member Layzie Bone’s latest solo album, “Perfect Timing,” is set for release later this year.
